AFF Cup: Peter Reid Expecting Tough Vietnam Test
Englishman Peter Reid played the psychological game ahead of Thailand's clash against Vietnam tomorrow when he shifted the focus on his opponent
Hosts Thailand will open their campaign in the second game of Group B of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2008 against Vietnam at the Surakul Stadium.
The wily Reid said at the pre-match press conference this afternoon that Vietnam will be hard to beat.
"We are excited about the first game but it is going to be difficult to beat Vietnam down," said Reid
. "They have good players in the squad and they are well organised. We want to win but it is going to be tough."
For the record, Thailand recently drew 2-2 against Vietnam in Hanoi which allowed them to win the T&T Cup for the first time ever.
But Calisto was not about to be drawn into a comparison with that game when he said that given the right atmosphere at different time and place, any team can be beaten.
"Sure Vietnam's record against Thailand has not been good over the last 20 years where I believe that we have only beaten them once," said Calisto. "But we have to be confident and after the last several matches, the team is slowly coming together as a unit."
