Myanmar See Off Bangladesh; Cambodia Still In It

The White Angels are looking good as they seek to book a place in next year’s competition.
Midfielder Pai Soe bagged a brace to deliver Myanmar their second win in the AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers when they beat hosts Bangladesh 2-1 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka.
The Myanmarese had earlier notched a 4-0 win over Macau in their first game.
Buoyed by more than 14,000 fans, Bangladesh took the lead in the 12th minute through Mohamed Enamul Hoque.
But Myanmar maintained their composure and despite being frustrated well into the second half, they fought back to score twice through Pai Soe.
Pai Soe’s goals in the 68th and 77th minutes were enough to see Myanmar through as they now look to win the group with their final game against Cambodia tomorrow.
The result sent Myanmar top of Group A with six points from two matches, three ahead of Bangladesh and Cambodia, who beat Macau 2-1 in the other match.
They need only a draw in their final match against Cambodia on Thursday to qualify for the AFC Challenge Cup 2010 finals. In the meantime, the Royals recovered their form in the qualifiers to beat Macau 2-1.
Cambodia, who had suffered a 1-0 loss to Bangladesh in their first match of the qualifiers, went ahead as early as the 12th minute through Teab Vathanak.
Macau then shored up their defence to deny their opponents for long periods in the game before Keo Sokngorn broke through with the second goal of the afternoon on 66 minutes.
But Macau, fresh from their humiliating defeat to Myanmar in their first match, pulled a goal back in the 75th minute through Che Chi Man. Only the top team from the group join India, Tajikistan, DPR Korea, Turkmenistan, Sri Lanka and Kyrgyzstan in the eight-team finals.
The other finalist will be the best second-placed team from the four qualifying groups.
